Frequently Asked Questions

I often see the term "affiliate" on websites.  What does it mean?
An affiliate or affiliate company is an individual or business which publishes advertisements for other businesses in order to showcase the goods or services of those businesses. Affiliates are paid a commission for the time and money they invest in this advertising service. Typically affiliates will publish links of various kinds within their blogs or websites.  Links may be in the form of text links found in site content which is relevant to the product or service being advertised, or they may be in the form of clickable banners.  Affiliate links may also be used in promotional email campaigns received by persons who have opted to receive such promotions.

In any event, the link will take the site visitor to the advertiser's website when they click it.  Often, but not always, the link will open that website in a new browser window or tab on the visitor's computer or mobile device.

Is the cost of an item higher if I buy something on a site after landing there from an ad link or banner?

No. The price a consumer pays for goods purchased after clicking a link or banner is no different than if they land on the website via any other means.

I've heard that you can get viruses and spyware on your computer by clicking ad banners.  Is this true?

Short answer: Generally speaking this is false 99.99% of the time in today's world.

Long answer:  When you're on a site such as Woodmor's which displays links and banners to their trusted affiliate businesses, you should feel confident that by clicking any of these links and banners you will simply be taken to the site being promoted with no ill effects on your device.

In the wild and wooly early days of the internet, say before 1996, bad things did occur because there were no real good laws in place to protect internet users from abusive practices.  Also computer security software such as that developed by McAfee and Norton was just coming into serious play back then.

This has all changed in today's world.  There are now tough state, federal and international laws in place which allow for the prosecution of malicious individuals who persist in trying to disrupt the internet as well as those who may practice false advertising.  Along with these laws there are numerous internet watchdog organizations which constantly monitor the internet for abuses of the laws by any person or entity.

Furthermore, Google and the other main search engines red flag any website which is found to be abusive of good practices and internet law. Webhosts, such as GoDaddy, will suspend any domain they host which is reported to be a threat or otherwise abusive.

None of the legitimate companies and reputable bloggers ever engage in corrupt internet activity simply because it would gain them nothing and could cost them everything.

Security software from McAfee, Norton and other developers now does a remarkable job of scanning and updating every subscriber's system on a round-the-clock basis for all the malware, viruses and other bugs that may be out there. Of course internet users must be subscribers in order to have the protection offered by this security software. It's the responsibility of everyone to purchase and maintain the right security for their own devices.
Why does it say Gray and Associates and not Woodmor's when I click the view cart button?

Gray and Associates, LLC is the name of our limited liability corporation which, in turn, owns and conducts business as Woodmor's and Woodmors.com. You might like to visit our About page to learn more.  We also recommend that our visitors review our Store Policies and Terms of Use.

I am a blogger with a small business of my own.  Can I promote my business on Woodmor's if I write a guest blog or article for you?

An excellent question and the answer is yes.  In fact, we encourage guest authors to provide links to their blogs, websites and social networks.  We also allow frequent guest writers to sell their craftwares and other retail merchandise on Woodmors.com for a small percentage of their sale price.  For example, if you sell handcrafted goods on sites such as etsy.com or bonanza.com, we suggest you also sell with your own storefront pages on woodmor's.  For more information about this contact us.

Why don't you ship outside of the U.S.?

Our policy of "Always Free Shipping" on all merchandise we sell prohibits shipping outside the contiguous forty-eight states and to APO addresses because of the special handling and exhorbitant cost of such shipping.
